Sewing Days and Down Under Quilts

Hi all,

First up a run down of the sewing days that are coming up.

There will be a sewing day at my home during the week of the 2nd of Feb.  I need to know what days you can make it (if you can).  Once I hear back from everyone I will let you know the final date.

The next Penrith Day is on the 7th of Feb.    We meet at Folklore or Penrith Patchwork.  Note the days have changed to Saturdays this year as the shop is not open on Sundays.  We start at ten and sew till around three pm. Please BYO lunch, sewing machine and threads.  We will be making laundry bags to complete requests on that day.

We also have a new sewing day starting up which will be run by Evelyn.

Aussie hero quilts will be conducting a workshop at Hobbeysew Top Ryde on the the second Tuesday of the month. The first being February 10th. We commence at 10.00am and finish around 230pm. The cost is $5.00 per head which includes coffee or tea and use of facilities. You need only bring your sewing machine, cottons and cutting tool. All project tops and fabric will be supplied . Any one interested please contact Evelyn on ev***********@gm***.com.

We are in print again

This is the first of about four articles that will be coming out in the next few months, in the lead up to ANZAC Day, featuring Aussie Heroes.  This one is in the Down Under Quilts Magazine.

When they announced they were going to do a magazine filled with quilts that were inspired by our Great Southern Land, they called for people to submit photos and stories about quilts they had complete.

Several AHQ quilters submitted their work, including myself. In the end there were so many submissions from AHQ that I was asked to collate a consolidated response so that an AHQ section could be included and here is it.  Not all the quilts I sent in could be used because of space etc but we still managed a good showing.

You will need to buy the magazine to read the articles but don’t our quilts look magnificent!

And to share the love a little. Look who else is featured in the magazine.  None other than our lovely Lucy Carroll, creator of the stunning Soldier On quilt and so many other masterpieces. Lucy would have to be this country’s premier Defence Quilter.

Till next time…………………keep spreading the word and happy stitching!
