RECOGNISED CHARITY STATUS

Dear Volunteers,

Thank you for supporting AHQ’s so consistently and effectively over the past 10 and a half years. As an organisation, we have grown in output, reputation and governance.

In 2020 we achieved, from the Australian Tax Office, recognition as a charity and this has helped us remain compliant with bookkeeping and financial reporting.

As part of this journey we have also applied for approval to become a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) where donations to AHQ could be recorded as Tax Deductible to the group or individual making the donation. Unfortunately there are strict guidelines around achieving DGR status and as AHQ’s mission serves such a broad audience and recipient demographic, we do not fit into one of the established categories. We will continue to engage with the ATO and find a proper path to DGR status but currently and sadly this is not possible at the moment without compromising our mission.
