Thank You DVA.

These days we have a number of non-quilting volunteers who help to carry the administration load of Aussie Heroes. One of those is past recipient, CAPT Phill Henry, RAN.  Phill’s Aussie Hero’s job is to be OIC of Fund-raising and Grant Application writing.

A little while ago Phill successfully lodged an application for a Grant under the 2020-21 Veteran and Community Grant (V&CG) program administered by the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA).  The V&CG Program aims to maintain and improve the independance and quality of life for members of the Australian Veteran Community by providing funding for projects that sustain or enhance health and wellbeing.

I am so grateful and happy to announce that a grant of $4000 was approved.  This funding will assist with the additional costs incurred during COVID-19 when posting quilts and laundry bags to members with significant health issues or in compassionate circumstances.

I can’t tell you just how perfect this timing is as the Lockdown being experienced here in Sydney and many other places around the country means we are having to rely on Australia Post in many cases as our only method of getting the quilts and associated supplies where they need to be.

So huge thanks to CAPT Phill Henry, RAN and also to DVA for their support. It is much appreciated.

Stay safe out there…. cheers Jan-Maree
