Happy Mail Wednesday 18 December

18 December 2013

Greetings All.
This will be the second last Happy Mail post for the year I think so if you sent some goodies and they did not make it into tonight’s post they will come up in early January.

I have also received the pale and pretty Aussie blocks from Liz J and Christine C just in case you were wondering and the quilt tops from the latest Mystery Quilts are completed – that would be the H quilt and the Engineer’s Joke quilt. They look awesome and I will hopefully get around to sharing some photos with you when time allows.  Right now the priority is to get them off to the quilters.

Here is the rest of the happy mail for this week.

Firstly some lovely poppies from Dorothy

who also sent in these great wonky crosses and

three cool laundry bags.

The next two sets of blocks were sent in by someone from Werrington but unfortunately we do not have a name.  If you recognise your handiwork please let me know so I can edit the post and give you credit.

Bev and Geoff completed this cozy looking quilt

and more cool laundry bags

And two Tassie ladies, Kay

and Fran sent in a bunch of poppies too.

I thought I might take a bit of time to introduce you to a small group of quilters who recently sent off three quilts. They are called the Dolphin Quilters and were formed 25 years ago.   They still have a couple of the original members with them.  They meet each week at the local Bowling Club.  They mainly do handwork on that day and do machining at home.  They are involved in charity work and each year make quilts which are donated to various local organisations who use them for fund raising.  Some of the organisations are the local Tennis Club, Camp Quality and other organisations that have a Biggest Morning Tea each year to raise funds for the Cancer Council.

Some of them are also involved with a charity down at Forster (about 45 mins south) and meet on the last Friday f each month and make quilts which are given to sick children who come and stay for free in some holiday cottages at Forster.

The photos show the three quilts sent away last Friday, I

The black and white quilt has been made by Joy (lady in the green shirt holding it) for a friend for Xmas.

These two ladies are Diane and Christine.

From the left – Diane (again) Dorothy (who is one of the original members of the group) then Doreen – at 92 our oldest member and finally in the blue top is Louise, the unofficial spokesperson.

Thanks ladies, it is nice to meet you.

I will be back again with Friday’s Weekly Dispatches.  See you then.

Till next time…………………..keep spreading the word and happy stitching!  JMxx
