The lead up to Christmas is always busy ….. for everyone and not just for Aussie Heroes. This year is is no different.
At the moment we have around 100 quilts and laundry bags on the request list, all of which need to go in the mail, at the latest by the middle of December and around 36 that have to be in the mail no later than the beginning of December and preferably earlier.
Here is the request list for this week. The names are listed in priority order – that means those at the top are coming home sooner than those at the bottom on the list.
If ever you were thinking about making a quilt for us now is really the time. All the quilts on this list need to be in the mail no later than mid December, some before that but that is the latest for all of them. Now is the time to make sure we can achieve that so if you have been sitting on the fence and thinking about it now would be a good time to jump in and make a quilt which will go in the mail and be with your recipient by Christmas.
The priority (not quite urgent but nearly) requests for this week are these three – N2, N3, and N5. These are the last three requests for HMAS Melbourne and I would really like to knock them off if at all possible. Two are football themed quilts but ignore the team if you don’t like football and concentrate on the colours.
The post by date for ALL of the quilts and laundry bags on the list is 9 November. If you want to make a quilt and cannot meet that deadline please do not let that put you off. Contact me and we will work something out.
Please make a note of the relevant date for your request in order to remember your deadline.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE copy the ENTIRE line if you wish to nominate for a quilt or laundry bag. This is really important to make sure that neither you nor I copy the wrong number which could lead to me giving you the wrong details for specific request.

This is not all the people that are waiting for quilts but these are the priorities for this week. That said, if you are working on a quilt and are looking for a recipient for it, and there is nothing on the list that matches, please email me a photo or description of the quilt as I may have a request coming up that fits.
Remember, you do not have to include everything they have asked for. Footy quilts do not need to have the logo or even the team name. Using the team colours is all that is required. Simple is perfectly acceptable. A number of these requests have given you favourite colours as well as footy teams or other hobbies and interests. It is fine to make a quilt using their favourite colours and nothing else. It is fine to keep it simple.
If you just want to make laundry bags please email me. I will ask that laundry bags have initials on them but other than that you need to let me know if wish to further personalise the bags with themed fabric or just use what you have. Also you need to let me know how many you would like to make.
