Weekly Dispatches 21 Nov

21 November 2014

G’day all. Well my week in Canberra is nearly at an end and it is nearly time for me to head back to Sydney.  I have had a wonderful time, have caught up with some really special friends, have met some recipients and handed over some quilts and have done so much more. Today the fellows from 1st Joint Public Affairs Unit came to a sewing day to film us and take pictures. I told them no double chins!  I hope they listened.  Ha Ha

Tomorrow I drive back to Sydney and on Sunday a few of us have been invited out to farewell HMAS Success.  It is the first time we have been given the opportunity to farewell one of our ships and I am looking forward to it though I am conscious that it will be a sad day for the families and friends who are there.  All I can say is that we will do our best to let the crew know they are not forgotten while they are deployed and many of our quilters and laundry bag makers are poised to send parcels on their way to the crew come Monday morning.

And now enjoy the pictures of this week’s quilts.

1079 quilts and 1330 laundry bags for 2014.

3479 quilts and  5270 laundry bags in total.

This was a block of the month quilt that lots of ladies contributed to including Evelyn who made the two cute sausage dogs blocks shown here and then put the top together.  Robin quilted it and then Evelyn sent it off.
