Jan-Maree here for a change tonight. Sandy is having a break.
Wow! What a week of wonderful quilts and bags. Well done to all.
I have to draw your attention to the fact that we have just crossed over another milestone… 24000 laundry bags since we started in 2012.
Thanks to all those of you who have sewn one or many more! Someone said to me the other day that they only had time to sew one laundry bag. I told them that one smiling ADF member is a great achievement and lots of “ones” adds up to a lot of smiles.
Many LBs are heading off to those that are supporting Australia’s fight again COVID-19 and we have already received our first thank you message from one of them, even though the first bags were only handed out yesterday. See the beautiful photo below.
If you have time to make some random laundry bags we still need some for other ADF members working on Operation COVID-19 Assist and I would love them to get their bags sooner than later.
For now though… grab a cuppa and check out this week’s work by our wonderful volunteers!
The first photo today is a bit special. A couple of weeks ago a contingent headed to Tasmania to keep the Burnie hospital up and running through the COVID-19 crisis. Purely because Clarissa from Sydney, Su J from Adelaide and Tamsin on the ground in Tassie, all put in some good work, we managed to express post enough laundry bags to let the team know we appreicated their services. Yesterday morning I received this photo along with the message that they passed on a massive thank you!
We can’t always scramble and get these short notice tasks accomplished but thanks to Su and Clarissa having a stash on random LBs on hand, and thanks to Tasmin scrambling some wonderful local sewers we managed it.
Also huge thanks to Tamsin for managing to embroider enough of our COVID-19 patches to accompany each LB before she handed them over. What an awesoe effort!
Thanks team! and to those that deployed to Tassie, thank you for your service!
