Well, only a couple of days ago I wrote about our guys and gals in South Sudan and already we have received our first thank you message.
Lynne from QLD only joined us in December and her first quilt went off to South Sudan and it has just arrived. This thank you email arrived yesterday for Lynne and I from her happy recipent.
I was lucky enough to receive my personalised quilt and laundry bag today– it’s absolutely beautiful & certainly has been made with great care and love! I also received a box full of goodies – with help from Lynne’s friend Rae – once again thank you!! You have no idea how much happiness you have bought to Australia house – the rest of the members are waiting in anticipation now for theirs to arrive!
I was all set to include some photos that our recipient sent showing the personalised label that Lynne attached on the quilt as well as the Aussie Hero label. I had the photos loaded and text written and then realised the label was “Personalised” i.e. showed the recipient’s name! LOL Glad I caught that!
And a thank you message for Pauline
I would just like to say thank you so much for the quilt, laundry bag and the goodies. It is so nice for someone like your self to go out of their way to make gifts for us it really puts a smile on our dials to know that there are people at home thinking of us during our deployment.
Now time for a Block of the Month (BOM) update.
During the last sewing day on the 2nd and when Terry came over on Monday we managed to put together several quilt kits which will be sewn together at the next couple of sewing days. I thought you would like to see the BOMs and how fabulous they look together.
First up some September BOMs.
These are a few of the OCT/NOV BOM that were sent to me and so I am keeping them to put them together. Excuse blurry picture – it was taken on Caroline’s iphone but it gives you the idea.
Now we move on to December”s wonky nine patch blocks.
As always I think it is safe to say that these blocks result in some of my favourite quilts!
A question of Rank
During a call with Angela this morning she pointed out that lots of you civvie types out there don’t know what the rank abbreviations stand for nor the service they repesent. We decided that I need to put a rank chart on the blog and I thought that was a great idea ….add it to my list. Well, it didn’t stay on the “To Do” list very long as Angela mentioned it to Amy who straight away got it organised so here you are! A complete list of the Ranks of the Defence Force. Hope that helps.

It is fun finding your own blocks in those BOM quilts. Is it possible to have some explanation of how/who puts those together?
And, I was wondering if it would be possible to have a special Quilt Gallery for BOM quilts.
I love it all.
