To help me out Melissa L has written the following post about the options now that Australia Post has discontinued the Bx2 Box. …..

As many of you would be aware, the BX2 Auspost boxes for posting quilts to our recipients have been discontinued.  There may be some still around so grab them while you still can.  Moving forward I have been looking at alternatives to use and my research may be useful to you too.  I believe you can buy generic boxes from Officeworks, etc.  This is convenient for some of you but not everyone has these stores nearby.

On eBay, I have found some generic boxes the same size as the BX2 box.  I have just ordered some for myself.  There are a number of listings but just to give you an example, you can order a bulk quantity of 50 for approximately $40 with free shipping to you.  I’ve seen a “lot of 25” for $24.95 with free postage.  This may suit some of you if there are no stores nearby to purchase boxes of this size.  I reckon they’re a pretty good price too.  Check them out when you have a moment.

As the boxes are plain on the outside, I intend to do an A4 printout which replicates what the front of the BX2 box would like.  It will be stuck down when I’m taping the box up to post my quilts.  If any of you would like a copy of this document for your own use, I’m happy to email it to you.

If you can’t get to an Officeworks Store, or don’t want to order online, then you can use Padded Postpacks.  Please do not use the unpadded postpacks or tuff bags as they are not as tough as you might think.  Please use the Padded postbags and tape it very well around the entire circumfrance in both directions. Do not use pre-paid satchels as they cost too much and you do not need to pay postage.
……

Huge thank you Melissa!!!

Till next time… keeo spreading the word and happy stitching!
