Another gorgeous quilt has made it to its new owner.  This beauty was made by Kylie.

The recipient asked for something with an Aussie Aboriginal type design that depicts the Aussie homeland, travelling cross-country, and navigating by the stars (ie the ‘Southern Cross’)

When I first read that request I thought “oh my goodness that is going to be a hard one” but I put it out there and Kylie said she could work with it and boy! did she hit a home run!  This is such a perfect quilt for this particular guy!
And a little more aboriginal fabric in the laundry bag.
Even Kylie’s gorgeous young man, her 9 year old son, got in on the act.  Kylie gave me permission to show you the letter he wrote.  Great job Wilfred!

Here is the response-

A couple of boxes arrived for me today.

It was quite an eye-opener to see the results of the work that you ladies have put into the AHQ quilt and laundry bag. Absolutely awesome and also now pulling in crowds of admirers amongst my work buddies.

I’m impressed and appreciate that you were able to incorporate the suggestions for traditional Aussie colours, designs and the Southern Cross constellation. Thank you so much.

I have a new team of work colleagues who have only recently arrived and weren’t previously aware of your AHQ team. They are now keen admirers of your skills and handicraft, currently draped over my work area – and too good to take to use, let alone put my dirty clothes anywhere near the laundry bag!

I will endeavour to free up some time and get some photos for you.

A special message was included just for Wilfred that I haven’t published – it is Wilfred’s to enjoy.
Then we received promised photos.
Another message for Wilfred.

Gidday Wilfred

Thought you might like this picture. Most people finish playing with sand pits when they’re about 6 years old or so. Here I am working in a sand pit that is as big as a country – and have a look at the temperature reading on the thermometer.

Then a message for us –
well, it was addressed to Kylie and I but we want to share it with all of you.

Gidday Ladies

Here’s the pic that I promised. The quilt and ‘laundry bag’ bag are certainly getting some attention around here. One can tell that many hours of effort have gone into planning the details, even before the stitching is started. I am stoked to see how you have incorpoated the colours and the Southern Cross. Just awesome.

I am most grateful for the support that your team is giving to the guys and gals out here.

By the way – the temperature on the thermometer?

48C

Ugh!  That is a bit too hot for me!

Here is hoping that some of this fellow’s work mate send a few requests for quilts and laundry bags.

Till next time………………keep spreading the word and happy stitching!
