Happy Tuesday Friends!
Happy New Year!
I hope you all had an awesome New Year with your loved ones.
A great bunch of messages and a photo from near and far, so grab a cuppa or very cool beverage, sit back and relax while you soak up some well-deserved gratitude.

Dear Clarissa L
G’day
I’m writing to give my sincerest thank you for the laundry bag you’ve so kindly sewed for me, and to wish you and your 6 grandchildren, 2 daughters, your son and husband, and of course your black labrador my best wishes for your new year.
I was so thrilled to learn about yourself and all the volunteers who’ve helped support me and the other serving members with me, and how you’ve helped bring a little bit of colour into our laundry time. I want you to all to know I can’t help but smile every time I see the little cartoon dogs that cover my bag.
While I love hearing about your support for Rugby, unfortunately I was born in SA, so sadly I’m an AFL fanatic (Go Crows). And I’ve never been able to stay upright on skis, so I’d say you’re a damn sight better at skiing then I am. I hope your garden continues to prosper, even with your labrador working so hard to get to your veggies first.
Please give your son my best, Signals is an important Corps, and often more thankless than they deserve, so please give him my thanks for keeping our comms from going on the fritz. I thank you for your prayers also, and can’t tell you the comfort it brings me.
Thank you so much for you hard work,
Sincerely, gratefully

Good morning Rita J,
I just wanted to write to say thank you very much for the fantastic quilt! This will get some great use and will be an awesome keepsake for many years to come. My tuxedo cat Cucumber has already spotted herself in one of the panels.
Everyone on Operation Kudu has really appreciated knowing we are thought about at home. Thank you for the effort and time you’ve put into creating this.
I am a Canberra boy myself, and I hope that Port Stephens treats you well. Happy New Year.
Kindest regards,
…
Good afternoon Jan-Maree
I wanted to thank you for organising the quilt for my brother in Tasmania. It was created by Jacqui D and delivered by Kelly W.
I am so very grateful. The quilt was absolutely beautiful and much more than I had anticipated. My brother was blown away and intends to hang it on a wall. Jacqui actually enclosed a personal note which made it all the more special.
Kelly W had to travel for an hour to reach my brothers address and was so lovely to deal with.
Thank you for the wonderful work you do. I cannot thank you enough.
With kind regards
The recipient’s sister also sent an email to volunteer who made the quilt
Good afternoon Jacqui D
You created a quilt for my brother in Tasmania. It was absolutely beautiful, much more than I had expected. You obviously have a very special gift.
My brother was blown away as it had been a complete surprise. He was even quite emotional when he realised the quilt was especially made for him.
The way that you set out his photos, incorporated the poem I had written and used the wonderful fabrics and motifs, accompanied by a beautiful personal letter, was exceptional.
Thank you so very much. I really can’t thank you enough.
I wish you well.
Kind regards

Good morning Pennie T,
Thank you so incredibly much for my beautiful quilt. The effort and details you have put into it are incredible and will definitely become a family heirloom because it is truly impressively wonderful.
I loved reading your letter and getting an understanding of who you are. I am actually a medical health planner/hospital administer within Medical Corps but my father and brother are both in the Air Force as Air Traffic Controllers in Adelaide.
Thank you so incredibly much again, the mail system took a very long time but I’m so grateful for my beautiful quilt and arrived as a late Christmas Present!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Cheers,

Hi Ruth S,
Thank you so much for the laundry bag, it is absolutely perfect! I love the sloths as well, a fantastic edition. I received my laundry bag around Christmas time, so it certainly did brighten my day and made for a wonderful Christmas gift.
I grew up on the Sunshine Coast in QLD. I was an 800m walk from the beach and used to love going for runs in the national park with my dad, hence the coastal theme. From there I left home at 17 in 2019 to go down to Canberra and attend the Australian Defence Force Academy for three years, completing a Bachelor of Arts majoring in International Relations and Business. I loved every minute of it and made lifelong friends that I still speak to today. Post that I attended the Royal Military College Duntroon in 2022 before graduating as a Ground Defence Officer in RAAF (mine is the only RAAF role that completes RMC). From there I completed Infantry Officer training in Singleton before posting up to Ipswich in QLD. I have loved being a little closer to home the last couple of years, although Ipswich isn’t exactly Noosa…
Thanks again for the laundry bag and thanks for what you do, I know you put a smile on the face of many ADF members deployed overseas.
Regards,
…
Until next week keep your letters, emails and photos coming in.
Tuesday’s would be so totally boring without them!
