UHappy Tuesday Friends!

Hope to see you there!

Dear Hilary P,

Thank you so much for the quilt and laundry bag! They arrived yesterday. I love the patterns and how the colours come together—it will make a great reminder for my time in the Middle East! Whilst the wet-bulb was reading over 56 degrees here the other day, I am definitely looking forward to the cooler nights in a few months to make good use of the quilt!

Great to hear you were able to get to Jordan and Egypt. I was fortunate enough to get into Jordan this deployment to meet with some of our forward deployed elements (also took the opportunity to visit Petra, the Dead Sea and the historical baptism place of Jesus). Jordan was an amazing country. I have not yet been to Egypt, however we do also send personnel there from time to time.

A bit about myself: I’m a Navy Principal Warfare Officer on an out-of-category land posting—my first non-ship posting in many years. I have a wife and 2 young daughters at home. I am looking forward to getting back home in a few months’ time, but thankfully they are very resilient with the amount of time away. My role at Headquarters Middle East is as the operations officer. I oversee most of our forward support missions to operations throughout the Middle East and I have a small team of about 5 who work around the clock to achieve this; all with families of their own back home.

Thank you again for your support. Keep up the good work and I hope you have enjoyed / are enjoying your road trip!

Yours Aye

Good Afternoon Jan-Maree B,

Just sending through an email to Thank you for our new laundry bags! I picked the Sunflower one that also has the Aussie Blue Mountains on the other side. It has already been so beneficial, especially since our washing machines are down currently on the ship, so it’s been great to have a strong bag to carry my laundry back and forth.

Sunflowers are my favourite flowers so as soon as I saw it I had to grab it, I honestly am so appreciative, thank you so much again.

You guys are amazing!

Yours truly,

Dear Ruth S,

Thank you so much for the laundry bag I received at the 85 Transport Platoon reunion in Darwin. I look forward to catching up with you in person in the near future.

 Kind Regards

(The original thank you letter to Ellen was published in the Grati-Tuesday blog on 18 Jun 24. This photo came through recently.)

Hi Ellen N,

The quilt fits perfectly on the small couch in my room 🙂

Kind Regards,

Good morning Rita J,

Firstly I’d like to apologies for the long overdue expression of appreciation. Shortly after receiving your beautiful quilt, the family and I moved house and I lost your contact details.  Thankfully I was able to source them recently through AHQ.

I must say, I was a little nervous opening the package when it arrived, as I’d conjured up some very specific ideas on how I wanted it to look.  You did not disappoint, in fact you exceeded my expectations many times over. I was absolutely delighted when I unfolded the quilt and saw how skilfully you’d captured the very essence of what I had imagined. Your workmanship, attention to detail and overall vision is nothing short of outstanding. I don’t know exactly how to thank you, but I can guarantee you this quilt will be a treasured family heirloom and a constant reminder of my service my families sacrifice, for generations to come.

Thank you so much Rita and all the best with your future quilting/life endeavours, it’s a wonderful gift you have.

Kind regards,

Dear Jacqui D,

Thank you for the very lovely small laundry bag with the invite to the Aussie Hero Quilts dinner on 26 October 2024.

I am always amazed at the creativity and great work of the Aussie Hero Quilts volunteers, thank you so much for your support.
The quilts and bags really do make a difference.

I would also like to say thank you for supporting the generations of your family in the ADF (the Air Force), and congratulations to your grand daughter for joining the Army!

I look forward to seeing you at the Aussie Hero Quilts dinner.

Best Wishes

Dear Volunteers,
Today I received beautiful quilts. One with my late husband’s details on it and the other one for myself since I am currently sick and in and out of the hospital. I just wanted to thank you for the amazing work you do. The quilts are so beautiful and also the laundry bag that was made for my husband a few months ago it was amazing. Thank you so much for everything you do.

Phill H,

I forgot to mention how thrilled and appreciative I am to receive your presentation of the Aussie Hero Quilt to me last Saturday night.  I must admit that I was a bit overwhelmed with the whole surprise hence there were quite a few thankyou’s that were overlooked by me.

The quilt is fantastic and what makes it extra special to me is the panel within the quilt with the Federation Star, which is something very dear to my heart.  Given that there are so few ADF veterans that have completed 40+ years of service, I have thought for a long time that there should be a separate gong struck based on the Federation Star as depicted in the panel on the quilt.

Now, it’s great to have this quilt which we will use on those cooler nights, once we are in our new apartment.

Thank you once again,

Dear Marianne R,

I’m writing to very sincerely thank you for your support and generosity – both with your time and effort in making such a great laundry bag, as well as the tasty treats! Up-front, I am a total chocaholic so will be rationing it over the next few months. The card you chose with the kangaroos hopping along the levy bank with the horse paddocks in the background looks just like our family property that I grew up on. It made me feel very nostalgic.

Thank you also for the personal touches in the laundry bag. I really appreciate the embroidered unit logo and appliqué phoenix logo. I love the colour combinations as well. Aside from farming, my family have run a sewing machine business for many years – It’s amazing what you can do with modern embroidery machines.
