Dear Ms Ball, (Jan – Maree)

What a special surprise and gift of a magnificent quilt , you and the ladies, Bobbie S, Philomena H and Joan B, made for me. Please pass on my sincere gratitude to each of them and the Mystery BOMers.

Your kindness is unbelievable to have spent so much time and effort to make such a beautiful article.

The Headmaster of Brisbane Grammar School came to my 100th birthday celebration party last Thursday and presented it to me. I feel both humbled and honoured to receive such kindness. I know I will treasure it and so will my daughter. My wife was able to feel the quilting and imagine the beauty also. Thank you.

Best wishes and good health for the future-

sincerely

Thanks and many kind regards.

Dear Kristie H,

Thank you so much for my wonderful laundry bag! I love that you have so many of the crests from so many of the squadrons I have been so privileged to fly with as well as the silhouette of my beloved

F/A-18 Hornet on the back. I will cherish this.

Thank you Kristie for giving so much joy to the ADF soldiers, sailors and aviators and please pass my thanks to you and your husbands siblings who have served our nation in uniform.

Best wishes to you and your family,

***

Hello Kerry B!

I was the fortunate recipients of your beautifully hand crafted Aussie Hero Quilt.

My quilt is draped over a small lounge that I have in my room and helps brighten the space wonderfully. The weather here is still quite pleasant, but there are hints of it beginning to turn as we move towards Autumn, so I’m expecting my quilt to be well loved during the colder months until I am due to return home in late November.

Home is currently Canberra where my husband is holding the fort with our youngest daughter. Keeping them safe are our two little miniature Dachshunds – Kanko (7yr old male) and Murphy (2yr old female). Needless to say I miss them all terribly and, now that I have passed my half way point, am eager to return home to them.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to create my quilt. It will be something I will cherish will be very dear to me.

Take care,

Good morning Ruth S,

Dear Jan-Maree B,

Yesterday I was honoured to receive a magnificent quilt, made by you and embroidered by Joan B. To say I was left speechless is an understatement.

I actually wondered if I was really deserving of such a precious gift, but someone at my workplace put my name forward, which was very kind of them.

I want you to know receiving this quilt means a huge amount to me. I joined the Army in 1983, and have served in one form oranother ever since. I married an Infantry officer, and before we bothretired from the Army we had moved 13 times, worked in every kind of unit, including being posted overseas. This life demanded pretty much everything from me – especially when looking after people who needed care, so there was less time for everything else. Right from the beginning, our two daughters understood their parents had very demanding jobs, but they knew they were loved and they supported us and each other all the way through. It wasn’t aneasy life for them, but they have grown into wonderful, caring people.

As I now face some health issues, I am very appreciative of all the people around me who are caring for me. It is something I have had to get used to, as usually it is the other way around. Receiving this magnificent quilt feels very much like an act of love to me, and I am extremely grateful for it. As an optimist I strongly believe I’llget through this, even so, the kindness of others that makes a huge difference to how I feel every day.

Thank you very much for your kindness in making this quilt, I will treasure it for the rest of my life and always remember the women who wrapped me in it. Please pass this on to Joan so she knows how much this means to me.

Very best wishes,

***

Hey Heather B,

Thank you very much for the laundry bag, it has certainly brightened my day. It is perfect as I am a Newy boy and hence a Knights fan (much to my own dismay)! I imagine it was difficult for you making it as a Queenslander!

I very much appreciate your letter as well. I hope you enjoy your upcoming holidays, I have heard that The Ghan from Darwin to Adelaide is awesome.

I apologise that there is no picture, unfortunately I am unable to upload one onto here.

Kind regards and thanks again,

***

Dear Bel P,

Absolutely love the laundry bag. Can not wait until my next deployment to use it. Thank you so much.

Keep Well

Until next week keep your letters, emails and photos coming in. Wednesdays would be so totally boring without them!
