Happy Wednesday Friends!
Welcome to Spring!
Today’s blog contains three reports of presentations made to the recipients. It is always an honour to be able to represent AHQ and see the reactions first hand.
Grab a cuppa, sit back and relax while you soak up some well-deserved gratitude!

Sheena B and Gail M worked together on a quilt requested by a veteran and were fortunate to be able to present it to him in person. Hilary P also came to take some photos. The recipient was delighted with his quilt, and told us about his past service and a little about his life. The visit was only short, but when we left we understood just how much the quilt meant to him.

Jan-Maree,
We were able to present CHAP D with your wonderful quilt today. While it had been some time since we had received the quilt, we had not had the opportunity to give it to him as he has been undergoing medical treatment (he has been given a good prognosis fortunately!).
So it was with great pleasure we were able to organise a catch-up with him at Bundaberg during one of our visits to the Reserve depot. He was very appreciative and thrilled with the thought and the detail that had gone into it, as you can see in the attached photo. It was also timely as it is a bit colder now.
Regards,

Dear Ruth S,
Thank you so much for your kind gift of a personalised laundry bag. Importantly, thank you also for your support of the men and women who deploy in the service of Australia.
When I have deployed and received these kinds of personalised gifts, it always lifted my spirits knowing that we had great people thinking so much about what we are doing. I know in my time supporting the Invitus games team the hightlight of the team was receiving their personalised quilt from the great people at “Aussie Hero Quilts”.
I am sorry that I did receive the laundry bag the day after Fremantle just defeated Port Adelaide. I hope that being fellow football clubs that are named after Ports and both represent the best people of our states that it was not too hard to take.
I wish you and your family all the very best and I extend my sincere appreciation. Keep on quilting.
Sincerely,

Good Morning Colleen
I am pleased to report that I have received the Aussie hero quilt you sent me and it looks amazing. You were right, I did not receive it until after the ship returned to Australia. I have been away from the ship for a number of months (on courses and looking after my family) and I returned on the weekend just gone for duty and was handed this absolute treasure by the girl that runs the canteen. I didn’t even know it was down there.
It is perfect. I love the colours and I have a particular fondness for turtles. I will have to take it home to keep it safe however, as the ship has gone into a deep level maintenance. I suspect my youngest boy Charlie may try and claim it. He is only just passed the one year old mark and rough housing with his older brothers.
Our trip up top was a long one this year. We pulled into a number of ports I haven’t been to before which was nice, but we had to roll up our sleeves to conduct a number of patrols. We came back in mostly one piece, though. I am sure everyone at Aussie hero quilts knows this, but we appreciate the amazing effort you ladies put in. The quilt and laundry bag will be a keepsake of the two years I have spent on board HMAS Sydney.
Thank you so much for everything you do.

Hi Jan Maree
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to represent AHQ in the presentation of this lovely quilt.
I met the recipients at the house of the Fallen Warriors wife’s parents for a cuppa then presented the quilt. The FW’s wife was really impressed with this beautiful quilt… so touched that her husband’s service number etc were on the quilt .. I explained his service number to his children.
Cheers Carolyn S
The quilt was made using blocks by Lynn F, created by Dorothy C and quilted by Philomena H with embroidery by Inge C

Until next week keep your letters, emails and photos coming in. Wednesdays would be so totally boring without them!
Cheers Bel P
