                                                                Happy Tuesday Friends!

Hope you are having a wonderful and safe week so far. For my Sydney counterparts, I am making the most of the time from home, enjoying the sunshine of an afternoon and getting on top of all the other tasks I need to get on top of like sorting out my tax LOL.

Enough from me, hope you enjoy the read!

Good Evening,

From the Facebook Page:

Thank you so much for my amazing quilt and laundry bag. I cannot express how much this quilt screams out me. Every person who sees it sees me. I have also sent a letter and photo to the quilt responsible for this amazing masterpiece.

….

Good Morning Aussie Hero Quilt Volunteers,

I would like to extend my appreciation to the individuals that produced my beautiful quilt. I was overwhelmed by the gratitude and work that was put into the quilt. I learnt to quilt when I lived in North America as a young women so I understand the time and effort that has gone into producing my quilt. The quilt produced is amazing and the detail is from the heart.

At the time I received this quilt, I was injured, receiving treatment, had recently changed jobs and found out I was pregnant. It meant so much to receive this.

I will be using this quilt throughout the winter. Thank you once again,

Kindest Regards.

Good Evening Ruth,

I wanted to thank you for the laundry bag I received today. It’s completely blown me away, the time and effort that you’ve put into making it and I cannot express how much it means to get this while overseas.

As you said, it turned out fantastic. I honestly can’t thank you enough. It’ll be something I hang onto for quite some time. You all do such a good job and we all love the work you do.

Kindest Regards.

Hi Jenny,

I am a Petty Officer who works as a cyber security specialist on board. I have been in the Navy for around 13 years now and while it has had it’s challenges and fair share of bad days, I have, for the most part, loved my time serving.

I would like to thank you very much for your dhoby bag. This bag actually means so much more to me than simply a gift. It has some really special meaning for me, and reminds me of home everyday. You see, I am a father of two young boys, 5 and 3. As you can imagine, I miss them terribly. When the Padre came around offering the bags, I was initially a bit hesitant as so many others on here have spent far longer away from their families than I had. The Padre eventually convinced me I was being inconsiderate not taking one and offered me a choice of a few.

When I saw one with the Pink Panther on the outside and thought that it looked great so I decided to take that one. As I unfolded it, I saw a space themed section. I am a massive space nerd and often spend time with my kids pointing out star constellations to them, or showing them videos of rocket launches and space walks. So this section really reminded me of things I love and reminded me of how exciting it will be to go home and do it all again.

Below that, though was a section even more special to me. There is a section of a Star Wars mosaic. I recognise the pattern well as both my sons have ‘toddler couches’ made of that very material. So now, I can look at that, along with the map my 5 year old drew for me of the way back to our house, and reminded of them. Also, it reminds me that while this sacrifice of time with my family is really hard, it is also really important and I am a very small part of a really special organisation and ship’s crew. So for this very special memento, I am truly thankful.

My sister is a Nurse. She has had a hard time keeping up with all the COVID information, and on top of all of that, she is a chronic asthmatic, so she has not really been able to work very much since it all started. She lives in Queensland with her 17 year old son. My wife and kids live in NSW, so while Ballarat is a west-based ship, I had to fly over and wait for them to get back from exercises. Unfortunately, I missed Easter with my kids, but I did get to spend time with them over the weekend by using Facebook Messenger. Although, I think both of them prefer playing games than appreciating the company. LOL.

Thank you once again, for such an amazing and meaningful gift. It really does mean a lot to me.

All the best for everything and I hope you enjoy your year.

Good Evening to Jan-Maree and all the Team,

Recently, whilst on Chaplain’s initial course at ADFA, we were presented with a beautiful Laundry Bag. Hand-crafted by your highly skilled team. I’d like to show my appreciation for this unique gift and let you know that we Chaplains really appreciate the effort you put in behind the scene.

It made me feel special receiving mine, and I know the other Chaplains did too. I can only imagine how the troops on Deployment must feel when they get theirs.

It’s truly a wonderful ministry.

So thank you so much for the kind gift. And thank you for your service to the country as an Air Traffic Controller in the Air Force and then the Navy as an Admin Officer.

Blessings.

Dear Bridget,

WOW! I don’t know how to really thank you – not only for your generous and special gift that you have, given me, but also for the incredible ministry of Aussie Hero Quilts! What an amazing ministry of love and care – THANK YOU!

I have served conscripted service in South African Air Force 1988-90 and up until end of last year, and have never been ‘thanked for my service’ – which was actually my neighbour in Western Australia. I came out of the house in my Army gear to go to our head quarters when he saw me and thanked me. I felt so unworthy, as I only joined in 2020.

I realised that he was actually expressing his appreciation to all those who have served, and I was just the face that morning.

It is such an honour and privilege to be a part of our ADF and return my ‘thank you’ to all those who have served and I was just the face that morning.

It is such an honour and privileged to be a part of our ADF and return my ‘thank you’ to all those who have served this amazing country and it’s special people. And it is certainly people like you and the folk at Aussie Hero Quilt. Please give them my heart felt appreciation, respect and honour!

Thank you for sharing your story. I’m praying tonight that God will bless you, your family and the ministry outreach of Aussie Hero Quilt in an abundant way.

Many blessings.

….

Thank you Aussie Hero Quilt and in particular Geoff and Bev. I received my Aussie Hero Quilt this week and absolutely loved it.

You guys do such a fantastic job and your hard work is appreciated. We all love seeing the different patterns and materials that are used

….

Hi all,

We would just like to thank you for all the hard work in getting us the requested quilts.

It is truly appreciated and really leaves a very positive impression with many veterans.

Thank you

….

On a final Note, one from Jan-Maree:

‘How is this for a nice little surprise? The AWM is going to digitise a copy of one of the covering letters I have sent from 2017 for posterity. Never saw that happening ten year ago.’

How cool is that! – Have a wonderful safe week – Alex
